Well, I'm driving a 2002 Ford Escape XLS. It gets about 25 mpg on the highway, unless I put my foot in it. It's really peppy... I can get rubber at 50mph if I floor it. At 2500 rpm, I'm doing 80... if it weren't for the governor device, I'm sure it would approach 140mph as a top speed.

However, it has only 29,000 miles on it. I don't drive far to the office... about 10 miles round trip. Plus, I work at home some days.

Yeah. I bought a Subaru in 1980.
That gutless wonder couldn't get out of it's own way.
Air conditioning could run all day and never cool the car.

One plus was that it never got stuck in anything. The on-demand 4 wheel drive was great.

Same thing happened n the 70's. Everybody dumped their giant Caddies etc. for smaller cars. Only problem back then is that because emission controls weren't very good yet the cars all ran like shit so not only was it a small car it was gutless to boot. Mine only gets around 50 mpg.
Pisses people off when I tell them I'm mad about having to pay $12 a week for gas.

Now I do have an SUV that averages 17 MPG, but that's just for trips to the doctor and Costco once a month....

they've had the ability to make and sell all electric cars and bikes for decades................
the reason they haven't is all due to politics and big business monopolies..........this is also why we are having these fucking wars.........
