I saw some vids on youtube of her trading licks with Jeff Beck, he would just smile and shake his head, the same way he did when jammin with SRV. Jeff really seems to enjoy the musicians he works with, he sometimes stops playing altogether to feature the guest soloist.

I've seen her play with Jeff Beck twice!
I kind of have a huge crush on her.... I wrote her once and she actually wrote back. You should go to her myspace page and listen to some of the stuff she's doing, she's totally brilliant!~ |

I have a crush on her too... my friend Vicki Genfan that I've been prattling on about just finished up a short "Guitars Gone Wild" east coast
tour with her. She's an incredible player...

Yes, she can play. Unfortunately, she wouldn't know a melody or a hook if it jumped up and bit her in the vagina.

Come to think of it, I think I met Jennifer Batten and actually talked to her for a while at the Greater Midwest Guitar show in St. Louis, 2003. I had no idea who she was and didn't really pay attention to her name, but she performed for a very small crowd to demonstrate a ten string guitar. I was really impressed. I didn't make the connection until just now when I watched her string dampener video. |

I like her ability to create abstract textures,bizzarre sonic landscapes, she really takes the instrument to some interesting places.
She's also good friends with Greg Howe who is another of my Idols! I think her music is strange and wonderful. |

Listening to the stuff on myspace I can really see why you like her style. I tend to go for players who are more melodic. Normally I would prefer to listen to
someone like Genfan, but after that "Where would you be without that pedal?" remark (albeit in "jest"), Batten surged ahead by a huge bound
in my esteem.
You have to hate those gratuitous we-the-chicks-with-guitars pairings, though. It does them both a diservice IMO. |
