I know it isn't just me and my TV and sound system. In all 8 performances last night, there was NO band mix AT ALL. After the first song my wife asked me
why it sounded like shit. It was nothing but the singers mic coming through. It was like the only band you could hear at all was being picked up by the singers
mic!!! Then at the end when they played the recaps, I could hear the band loud and clear. Unbelievable.

lol... first one I've missed all year... we were watching the results from the primaries all night.
it's pretty wierd that a program with such top-drawer production quality as AI would drop the ball like that. |

I was pretty pissed at the mix last night, Stan. How does this sort of thing happen in this day and age?

Same way the best engineers in the biz manage to fuck up the sound on the Grammies every year.
To be charitable, you have a very complex set up going out live and you can't stop to figure out what's going wrong.
Wherever there's a cop beatin' up a guy, I'll be there.
Holding the guy down.

"American Idol Disaster".. pretty much says it all.. i hate that show..
anyway.. i've seen similar things happen. was all excited, years ago.. to see white zombie perform on some "live" awards show (mtv thing i think).. it was completely messed up. backing, canned, synth tracks were completely out of sync with the live performance. no strange audience reactions though.. later it was re-run, and it all looked and sounded fine.. weird. |
