My latest film - Appreciation Fest 2008 - for your consideration |

This vid is me with a handheld at a big music event I did a week or so ago..took the handheld shots and jammed them together.. oh...it's rough...but
it's fun to me. Be interesting to see how someone who doesn't know the people or the area will think about it.

looks like a good time and a high caliber of musicianship there, Kenny. I was diggin the old school PA setup outdoors. In this day of vertical arrays, we can
forget how good the old ways could be, especially with a good sound man

PA wise, that old boy did all that for $700. My partner on this event brought him in. And he did a good job with it. Don't think you can get one of the
new kinda PA setups for that kinda money.
Appreciate your feedback on it, Stan. The level of musicianship is pretty high in my area. Glad this vid (rough as it is) reflects that. |

Cool. (But Stormbringer playing ...Kansas??
)

Stormbringer is a cover band. They cover cool metal based bands of the 20th century. Kansas, of course, being one of those.

Yeah, I thought so. Though by going on the bandname, one would think they played nothing else but BÖC, Hawkwind and The Deep Fix.

What are the odds? We have a cover band here in St. Pete called Stormbringer. Been around 20 years or more. In fact, Robbie Steinhart, who lives here,
frequently uses them for his backup band when he wants to gig.

I think that my local Stormbringer got their name from a Deep Purple song. It's a hobby type project by the lead singer. (who was my partner on this
event)
They do spend a lot of time working up complicated songs. Complete with all the bells and whistles. including harmony, etc. Something I no longer want to do. You won't see me figuring out the parts to "Carry On My Wayward Son". Anyhow, these guys are all into 80's metal stuff. They love it. Do it pretty darn well. There's not much market for it these days...but they love it. The band at the end... Von Guarde... is led by the son of the singer in Stormbringer. Bill Lloyd has produced one album on them and they have a new album ready to go and are shopping labels on it...or so they tell me. They are a pop rock band. Got some good stuff and a good local following. The one band in this vid that has serious potential is the country rock band Floord...they got some great songs and have a pro management team working them...and some high Nashville interest. I still don't think they have "the" song..but that is all they lack. |
