A security loophole in Windows XP and Vista allowed workgroups to be named the same as network domains and hardware creating a security risk. My workgroup was
named the same as one of my wireless switchs and everything worked fine. Then I did the update on several computers, XP and Vista and suddenly the networked
computers couldn't connect to each other. Easily fixed by renaming the workgroup, but drove me mad until I tracked down the problem and figured out what
the update fixed, or broke in this case. Just thought I would pass it on in case some of you have your network workgroups set up as the same name as your
hardware domains and experience the NOT AUTHORIZED to your own network workgroup.
That is all.
Carry on.
Nothing to see here.
